Enter the world of videos! There are a lots of marketing strategies out there, from email marketing to cold-calling. But if you want to stay up-to-date and have a greater exposure for some of your campaigns, you might want to consider video marketing for your small business.

Video marketing is a very personal approach that gives your customers a multi-sensory experience. Guaranteed they will experience movement, images, colors, words, as well as emotions. For that reason they will find it more appealing than just the written word. That being said, it’s a fact that there is science behind video engagement. As per Susan Weinschenk—known as “The Brain Lady”—there are 4 core reasons why humans are drawn to video.

  1. We focus on a face and not just a voice. The fusiform facial area makes us pay attention to faces. Yes, it is a brain function that makes us use a human face as a centralized point of information.
  2. Voice gives more meaning, and by voice, I don’t mean your internal voice. When we hear a human voice, we are more apt to convert the info into meaningful content.
  3. Seeing is believing. When we see people have an emotional experience, we have a greater connection. As the saying goes; “Body language says a lot”. Body language is a powerful feature of human-to-human interaction.
  4. It’s also about the movement. Since way back, when we survived by noticing the moving things around us. This vision is deeply ingrained in our DNA: we are drawn to things that move!

Now, let’s look at the levels of digital relationship:

  • Acquaintance
  • Friend
  • Confidante
  • Intimate

Awareness is exactly that your customers know your brand, maybe they saw and felt it on a video? Then there’s the intimate side. This is when your customers provide you with info and they share their stories with you. When they have made a connection with you, the buyers journey is dominated by your brand! It should be a marketer’s goal to become intimate with their customers. Without video marketing, moving your customers into those stages takes A LOT more touch. Customers only have an infinite amount of attention to spend. Thus, using video marketing will speed up the “bonding” process, making it so much stronger.

If you are a smart marketer, you will understand that audience engagement requires a variety of content. Sometimes your customers don’t want a story, they just want facts. In this digital age we’re living in, it is not only about establishing relationships, but making the relationship positive by giving your customer what they want.

With all that being said, I believe that your best bet for video marketing would be YouTube. YouTube was created by 3 PayPal employees in 2005 and since 2006 it’s been owned by Google. With features such as Playback, Uploading, Quality and codecs, and 3D Videos, it’s no secret that a lot more marketers are turning to this astonishing tool.
