How to create social proof for your new online B2B business - SaaS Inbound Marketing Agency

Buyers trust other buyers. Social proof, meaning evidence that real people and real companies have chosen you and been happy with the result, is one of the most effective ways to grow a new B2B business. It builds confidence, shortens sales conversations and makes your marketing more believable. Here is how to build it, even if you are just starting out.

## What is social proof?

Social proof is the psychological tendency to look to other people's behavior when deciding what to do. If many people like us have chosen a product and are happy with it, we assume it is a safe choice. In B2B, where purchases are larger and involve more risk, that reassurance matters even more. Independent research on reviews consistently shows that products with reviews convert better than products without them, and that buyers actively look for peer experiences before they buy.

## Ten ways to create social proof

### 1. Show relevant certifications and credentials

Industry certifications, security attestations, partner badges and awards tell prospects that an independent party has vouched for you. Only display credentials you currently hold, keep them up to date and place them where decisions happen, such as pricing pages and forms.

### 2. Feature customer testimonials

A short, specific quote from a real customer reassures new prospects. Ask for the problem they had, why they chose you and what changed. Even a handful of strong testimonials make a big difference. Always get permission, and use real names, roles and companies wherever possible. Video testimonials add authenticity, and a phone camera is usually enough.

### 3. Publish case studies

A case study tells the story of a customer's challenge, what you did and the result. For B2B buyers, this is often the most persuasive asset you can offer. Write it like a story, with the customer as the hero, include concrete outcomes you can verify and reuse it in sales emails, proposals, blog posts and nurture sequences.

### 4. Use expert and partner endorsements

A recommendation from a respected practitioner, analyst or complementary partner can carry more weight than a company's own claims. Invite experts to try your product and share honest feedback, and be transparent about any relationship.

### 5. Display your customer numbers

If you can say how many customers, users or countries you serve, share it. If your numbers are still small, use other honest proof points, such as the results customers have achieved, the industries you serve, community size or your years of experience. Never inflate numbers.

### 6. Show the product in action

Screenshots, demos and short [videos](https://incredo.co/blog/how-can-saas-companies-boost-user-engagements-with-video-marketing/?hsLang=en-us) prove the product works as described. Before-and-after comparisons and real customer examples are especially persuasive when they are authentic.

### 7. Collect feedback with short surveys

Customers often will not write a long review but will answer a two-question survey. Send a short survey after onboarding or a milestone, and with permission, turn positive responses and scores into proof points.

### 8. Make reviews easy, and be careful with incentives

Create profiles on the review sites buyers in your category use, and ask satisfied customers to leave an honest review. If you offer a small thank-you for participating, offer it for taking part regardless of whether the review is positive, and follow the review platform's rules and any advertising regulations in your region. Never fabricate or selectively filter reviews.

### 9. Use credible third-party voices

Analyst mentions, industry reports and expert commentary are strong proof because they come from outside your company. Reference them accurately and link to the source.

### 10. Share press and publication mentions

If your company has been featured in a publication, podcast or industry roundup, add it to your website. It is a powerful trust signal that many teams overlook.

## Where to place social proof

Put it where hesitation happens: near calls to action, on pricing and demo-request pages, in sales emails and in proposals. Match the proof to the audience, for example a logo and quote from the same industry as the visitor.

## Keep it honest and current

Social proof only works when it is true. Use real customers, real results and permission-based quotes, and review your proof regularly so nothing outdated stays on your site.

## Make social proof part of your system

The best teams do not collect proof by chance. They build it into their process: a request for a testimonial after a successful onboarding, a case study trigger when a customer hits a milestone, and a library sales can search quickly.
